More “happy days” are ahead for Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl Howard.
The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Monday, with Ron posting a sweet selfie with his wife on Instagram to commemorate the special day.
“Celebrated quietly but beautifully on the #GoldCoast #QLD on my day off from directing #ThirteenLives for #MGM and @imagineentertainment,” the filmmaker captioned the pic, nodding to his latest project. “I’m a lucky fella.”
The couple is all smiles in the cuddly photo, with rose-colored tinfoil balloons in the shape of a “4” and “6” as their backdrop.
Paige Howard, one of the couple’s four children, commented, “LOVE BIRDS 🐦🐦 ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Actor Josh Gad also wrote, “Happy Anniversary!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Ron and Cheryl, both 67, are no strangers to keeping track of milestones in their relationship.
In November, the writer-director duo celebrated the 50th anniversary of their first date.
“We went to see a re-release of Stanley Kramer’s ‘It’s a Mad Mad Mad World’ and then got some pizza at now-defunct Barnone’s in Toluca Lake,” Ron shared on social media at the time. “Quite a start, right?”
The former “Happy Days” star and Cheryl first started dating in high school, tying the knot in 1974.
“There was never anybody else,” Ron told People Magazine in 2019.
“People say, ‘How’d you do it?’” he added of their relationship. “There’s no technique. There’s no tactic other than communication … Beyond that, there’s an element of luck because people either grow together or they don’t and I don’t think you can force that.”
Aside from Paige, they also share daughter Bryce Dallas Howard, Paige’s twin Jocelyn Carlyle, and son Reed Cross.
